Lady In Red

(Photographed and styled by Dulce)

Merry Merry Christmas!

My friend, Vall, was looking for a dress to wear to a family Christmas dinner and she wanted something elegant yet comfortable. I mean seriously, who wants to wear a fitted dress to dinner? I always like to leave a little extra room for my food baby (lol).  We decided to go with a BOLD red pleated dress and accessorize it with delicate gold earrings, a thin gold belt and nude pumps. When wearing a bold color like red, it’s good to keep everything else simple. This look transported me back to Spain with the detailed pleats and ruffles along the neckline and wrists. This modest dress definitely has a touch of sexy with sheer sleeves and a little skin showing below the neckline.

One of the best tips I’ve ever received was “wear what you want, not what you’re told” and I make sure to always share that with my friends when styling for an event or a photo shoot. The reason is- if you are not comfortable in that outfit, the world will see your discomfort. We are conditioned to believe that a specific silhouette can only be worn a certain body type but that’s not always true. We just tend to gravitate towards the items that are marketed for our body types. What we should do instead is learn how to make a dress fit our body not the other way around. This is the perfect example of a dress that would look fabulous on any woman. The best part is that you can add your own twist that flatters your curves. Please stop letting the world tell you what you can and cannot wear. Find one that you like and feel confident in, then be BOLD and step into that dress.
