Silk Slip Dress

How to Style a Slip Dress from Day to Night!

· From Day to Night ·

The silk slip dress trend is here to stay and I want to walk you through how I styled this dress from day to night. For starters, I have to admit that I bought this dress because it is so comfortable and frankly, I want to feel like I’m wearing pajamas when I’m out and about. As a young professional, I remember making plans with friends for after work dinner/drinks but dreaded the idea of going home to change before meeting up with them. So I got creative and learned to plan my work outfits around my evening plans. Being able to change your outfit from day to evening with minor adjustments can make the difference in your look.

Day Look

Let’s be honest here, we all know that classrooms and office spaces are so darn cold. Can they cut it with the AC, c’mon man. I personally love to feel warm even at my desk and this slip dress wasn’t going to do that. Adding a chunky knit sweater as a layering piece did the trick. Black suede pumps are great for those of us who sit for 8+ hours a day and for lunch meetings with clients, but you can also substitute them for a pair of sneakers, another relaxed look that is trending. Now on to the accessories; I added the belt to bring attention to my waistline and to pull the outfit together. Simple trendy earring and nude lips to finish off a stylish yet comfortable look!

Night Look

We all know how sexy a silk slip dress can be. I personally like the navy color; it was the perfect balance between sexy and classy. I paired it with a long belted trench coat, block heel sandals- because I live in a city and I walk to dinner. I found perfect matching dangling pink and navy quartz earrings and for a little BOLDNESS I topped it off with an orange-red lip to really bring this look to life. These minor adjustments to my outfit gave me just the look I needed for for a night out. Who’s coming with, drinks on me!

Here are the links to all the pieces I used to create these looks! I hope this was helpful and I look forward to sharing more style tips soon.
